We built TurnLeaf to help you grow plants, not to learn about you. Here's exactly what that means.
What we don't do
- We don't use third-party advertising trackers.
- We don't sell your data. Ever.
- We don't ask for your GPS location.
- We don't share your data with marketers or data brokers.
- We don't fingerprint your device.
What we collect, and why
Email and password
To create your account and let you sign back in. Passwords are hashed by our auth provider — we never see them.
The name of your city
To look up sunrise, sunset, and weather for your window. We never request or store your GPS coordinates — only the city name you type during setup.
Your gardens, plants, tasks, and harvest log
So the app can remind you to water, harvest, and resow. This is your data; you can ask for a copy or deletion at any time.
A push-notification token (only if you turn on reminders)
So we can send you a water or harvest reminder. Stored only as long as you have notifications enabled; revoking permission removes it.
Basic logs (page requests, errors)
Standard server logs so we can fix bugs and keep the service running. No personal profiling.
Cookies
We use one kind of cookie: an authentication session cookie so you stay signed in. We do not use marketing or analytics cookies.
Service providers
We use a small number of vetted vendors to run the service. They process data on our behalf under their own published terms:
- Authentication and database hosting
- Application hosting and content delivery
- Transactional email delivery (account and reminder emails)
- Public weather and geocoding data
We don't give any of these providers permission to use your data for their own marketing.
How long we keep your data
For as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your gardens, plants, tasks, and harvest log. We may keep minimal records (such as deletion timestamps) for security and anti-abuse purposes.
Your rights
Regardless of where you live, you can email us to:
- See a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Correct anything that's wrong.
- Delete your account and your data.
- Opt out of any optional communications.
California, EU/UK, and other jurisdictional residents have additional rights under local law (including the CCPA/CPRA and GDPR). Email us and we'll honor them.
Children
TurnLeaf is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you think a child has signed up, please contact us and we'll delete the account.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything material, we'll update the “last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email.
